Nanjing Electric and HD Supply Power Solutions Team Up for Big Win at AltaLink

After months of rigorous testing and a factory audit, Altalink and their partners SNC Lavalin have awarded HD Supply the contract to supply over 200,000 Nanjing Electric toughened glass insulators for their 500kV HVDC Western Alberta Transmission Line. Construction of the new line will begin in 2013 and will run 350 km from Edmonton to Calgary, Alberta.

After passing CSA and IEC testing at Kinectrics of Toronto, a team of 10 officials from Altalink, SNC Lavalin, Kinectrics, and HD Supply Power Solutions traveled to Nanjing City, China to perform an audit at the Nanjing factory. The audit proved to be successful, and the contract was awarded in November.

Nanjing Electric (Group) Co., LTD, manufacturer of toughened glass insulators for the high voltage transmission and distribution industry, has been building glass insulators since 1959 and is the largest manufacturer of toughened glass insulators in China.
